I finally visited New Haven's Downtown on Thursday after planning several attempts earlier in the week which I postponed due to the rain. I chose to go in the afternoon around 6:30 p.m. to benefit from nature's natural light. This journey took me an hour and a half and to edit the images it took me hours. I played with the colors, tones, shades and the one that I liked the most was the sephia tone. I enjoyed this part of the assignment. I took many pictures so it was challenging for me to post the two that met the criteria, so I invite you to visit my fotothing to view other images. An example is the Court House, I used graduated tint to adjust the shade of the statue and made it the focal point.

The first picture I chose is the building on Church street facing the Green in Downtown and as you can see I zoomed it and played with the tones and this is the result. The second picture I chose is a structure on Yale University and I chose purple tint for fun. I hope you have an opportunity to view the rest of my pictures.

  1. The top one is the best of the two. Notice how there is light on the side of the building and how nicely it is framed by the trees... you are thinking in compositional and the light seeking terms... very good.

Now that I have a better understanding of the requirements I feel more comfortable and I am going to post another picture.
