Happy first days of Summer! More pix from my office windows this week. I was partial to a Black & White theme - because sometimes at work - I feel like its kind or "black n' white' in that, it can be boring and drab and same ol sam ol. I am taking Jerry's advice about not changing colors if is not necessary and these are the original photos. I prefer to use the original colors as well. Hope you can enjoy them.

This monument sits right in Central Park in New Britain. It is over 100 years old. I have heard that you can actully go inside. Maybe one day I will check it out!

These four angels sit on mt bookcase at work. They were given to me around ten years ago by a co-worker. When I am having a rough day I can always look over at them and somehow I begin to feel peaceful.

Rock and Water Contrast-Week 3 Assignment

This photo shows the contrast of rock and water reflection. This was taken at the bushnell park pond. I changed the color to white and black to show the details of the rocks as well as the reflection of the water.

Flowers and light - "Ready to pop"

Just took these photos of a mandevilla vine in my yard and liked how they came out so I decided to post here. I thought the bud was really cool, since it looks like it's about to explode. The b&w is the shadow of a patio chair. I did crop and play with the coloring slightly, but for the most part it's natural lighting.

So this week, I wanted to take photos of things that we look at very day and turn them into something different using the natural light and shadows. Here are a few of my favorites.

Window Reflection

Hi all, This is a reflection photo I took in my backyard. The fence, chairs, and hanging basket are reflected through the window of my shed.

For this assignment I took many pictures. The day was bright and sunny, which was a plus. I had to change my posture several times for the same image to get the perfect angle and to not include my own shadow in the pictures. The best shadows I saw were of trees, but I decided to include items that I use in a daily basis. The first one is a playground and you can see the geometric shapes. For the second one I chose a STOP sign with an octagon shape and the last one is a kid's bike, which has a round shape for the tires but in one of the tire's shadow you can see it as an oval shape.
